46th Edition of Koth Biro Enters Second Round of Group Stage.

Kenya’s premier off-season football tournament, the Koth Biro, is gearing up for its second round of group stage matches, marking a crucial phase in this year’s event. The tournament, which commenced on the 14th of August, has witnessed 32 teams hailing from Nairobi, Kiambu, and Kajiado Counties competing in their initial group stage encounters, all vying for a coveted spot in the round of 16.

The spotlight shifts to the second round of group stage matches starting today, Wednesday, 23rd August 2023. The kick-off for this phase features a highly anticipated match between Rock City and G 45 United, scheduled for 11 am. Subsequently, fans can look forward to an exciting clash between Ziwani All Stars and Ruaraka All Stars at 3 pm.

Elevating the event’s prestige, the 46th Edition of Koth Biro has garnered substantial support from prominent former Kenyan internationals. Notable figures such as Jamal Mohammed, Arnold Origi, Samuel Owino Kempes, and Sammy Shollei have all thrown their weight behind the tournament, reinforcing its significance within the country’s football landscape.

Commending the players and team managers for their exemplary discipline and dedication throughout the competition, Koth Biro Chairman Paul Ojenge extended his gratitude. He acknowledged the smooth progression of the event thus far and emphasized the challenges posed by certain betting firms’ unconventional marketing strategies during the tournament.

“While we’ve managed to maintain the smooth running of the tournament, we’ve encountered some challenges stemming from the gorilla marketing tactics employed by certain betting firms. We’ve addressed these concerns, and we’d like to encourage any betting company interested in association with this esteemed tournament to engage with Koth Biro’s administrative team through official channels,” stated Ojenge.

The Chairman also expressed sincere appreciation for the unwavering support extended by the former Kenyan internationals, Jamal Mohammed, Arnold Origi, Samuel Owino Kempes, and Sammy Shollei, in bolstering the 46th Edition of Koth Biro.

The second round of group stage matches will culminate on the 29th of August, paving the way for the subsequent stages of the tournament.
