Raila Odinga – The Enigma has rested.
We knew this day would eventually come — just not in this way. Today, I find myself with mixed reactions — grief, respect, reflection — because Baba was never just one thing. He was complex, compelling, and commanding. All in all, I still hold him in the highest regard — a man respected even by his haters, admired by his rivals, and loved by his people.
Raila Amolo Odinga — Baba, Tinga, Jakom, Agwambo, The People’s President, The Enigma — lived through storms so we could stand in the sunshine of freedom. He was detained for what he believed in, persecuted for daring to dream, and yet he never let bitterness cloud his vision. His struggles gave birth to the freedoms we now enjoy — the right to speak, to choose, and to hope.
He carried Kenya’s pain like his own, walking through the fire so others could rise. In him, we saw the cost of conviction and the strength of endurance. His was not an easy journey, but a necessary one — a story written in scars and triumphs alike.
And through it all, Baba remained the same man — grounded, passionate, and forever a football soul. A true Gor Mahia faithful who believed, just like in politics, that one day victory would come home.
Rest in Power, Baba. The stands, the streets, and the spirit of Kenya will never sound the same without you.
